GET TO KNOW BROWNCHICKEN

The band came together around the banks of the Greenbrier River located in the Appalachian Mountains of southern West Virginia around 2006-2008. From back porches, to campfires, to fishing holes they would meet up after work and trade tunes and write music together until the night grew long. They played pubs, farmers markets, parties, and even civil war reenactments before their first advertised show. The venue asked for a name which none of them had pondered yet. By chance, or even a joke you might say, they came up with "BrownChicken BrownCow StringBand" thinking they could always change it later. 

 

The show was at the Wild Bean in Lewisburg, WV and it was a great success and the band had no chance to change the name as everyone in town embraced the name and their music. Eventually everyone quit their job and the band somehow gravitated Maui, Hawaii to perform full-time. There they collectively wrote loads of songs that later were recorded. The band left Maui and traveled back and forth, up and down all over the continental United States, Alaska, Hawaii, and even parts of Puerto Rico performing 80-100 shows a year.
